Nickname:  Charuto  ( means “ cigar” in Portuguese , given by his water
polo coach “barriga” in 1988)


Jiu-jitsu experience:
Started in 01/03/ 1993, with 19 years old, with head coach Andre
Pederneiras and instructors Marco Pederneiras and Joao Roque.
Awarded the black belt in December 1996 after winning “ Brasileiro”
(national) championship in the brown belt division.
Now representing Team Nova Uniao Jiu-jitsu (merge of 2 academies:
Andre Pederneiras and Wendell Alexander – 1995)
